Please note the following guidelines when applying for a grant:

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

o       An organization must have current 501(c)(3) Public Charity status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

o       The organization must serve a U.S. population

o       Applications may be submitted at any time, but are reviewed and distributions are made in May and November of each calendar year

o       In most instances, a board or staff member will conduct a site visit

o       The Foundation does not exclude any grant based on geographic location, but gives special consideration to agencies in Texas, California, Alabama, North Carolina & Colorado

o       Applications must be submitted via U.S. Postal Mail

o       The Foundation considers Board member giving

o       The Foundation understands and supports grants for general operating

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

          In a written grant proposal letter, please include the following:

o       Mission statement

o       Description of the organization and its background and history

o       Full description of the proposed program, its goals and objectives and the population being served

o       Clear evidence of the need for the program

o       Identity and qualifications of the key personnel involved

o       Names and affiliations of all directors or trustees

o       Detailed program budget showing all sources of funding

o       Latest financial statements including most recent audit reports

o       Documentation that the proposal is financially supported by the organization’s board of directors or trustees

o       Copy of the organization’s IRS exemption letter

 

GENERAL FUNDING AREAS

o       Human Services

o       Elderly

o       Developmentally delayed or disabled

o       Chronically or terminally ill

o       Enrichment programs for underprivileged children

o       Medical research for AIDS, Alzheimer’s, ALS and cancer

 

GENERAL EXCLUSIONS

o       Churches or religious organizations

o       Political activists or political action committees

o       Loans

o       Projects of organizations whose policies or practices discriminate on the basis of ethnic origin, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation

o       Grants that benefit specific individuals

o       Multi-year grants
